Turbines

Hydraulic Analysis Limited has been involved in the design of numerous large scale turbine installations. Current financial (renewable energy) incentives and soaring energy costs have enhanced the viability of small scale turbine installations. The potential energy in water networks previously wasted via raw water releases, flow control valves, etc. is now being recovered using small scale turbines for local use or to feed into the national grid.

Our studies of both large and small scale turbine installations typically include optimising the normal operation of the turbine inlet control valve, emergency turbine shutdown following rejection from the national grid (i.e. runaway conditions) and remedial measures required to ensure the system operates in a predictable and safe manner.
