Hydraulic Study / Surge Analysis Data Requirements

The information required to carry out an analysis of a pumping station and simple transmission pipeline system is as follows:

• The maximum and minimum pump suction and switching levels for the pumping station.

• Pump characteristic curves, operating philosophy (duty/assist/standby) and design duty flowrate.

• Pump station pipework layout drawing.

• Longitudinal section of the pumping main.

• Pipe diameters, materials and wall thickness or classification.

• Details of discharge arrangement (free exit/bellmouth/submerged).

• Details regarding any flow control devise at the discharge into the service reservoir.

• Dimensions of any existing surge vessels.
